St. John's Pastoral Centre, Waterford.

In these two evening sessions with Fr. Michael Mullins, we will  seek to deepen our appreciation and enrich our understanding of Christ through an examination of the Gospels in the light of the broader context of the Old and New testaments..  Donation €5

On the road to Emmaus Christ ‘opened the Scriptures’ to the two downcast disciples and as a result they invited him to stay with them that evening. They  recognised him in the breaking of the bread as their roles were reversed and their guest became the host at whose table they were led into the realization that stranger was in fact their Risen Lord (Lk 24).

‘All Sacred Scripture is but one book, and that one book is Christ, because all divine Scripture speaks of Christ, and all divine Scripture is fulfilled in Christ’ (Hugh of St Victor). St Jerome in his commentary on Isaiah, (quoted in Dei Verbum of Vatican II) states that ignorance of Scripture is ignorance of Christ.
