Liam Lawton will facilitate a liturgical music workshop in St. John’s Pastoral Centre, Waterford on Wednesday October 7th at 7.30pm.
Composer Fr. Liam Lawton is offering this workshop on a new collection of music that he has recently pubished. “Since I had composed The Glendalough Mass I wanted to write service music that would embellish the Mass Setting so I wrote an Entrance Piece, Psalm, Offertory , Communion and Recessional Piece but all can be sung for their own merit also. I have also included a piece for Christmas. ” Into the Quiet” is written in a Tazie style which can used for gatherings of all kinds etc There is a new setting for the Ave Maria which is very congregational friendly which is a big passion of mine and I have also not forgotten my Celtic roots ! So it really is a very general collection that allows pieces to be sung for various events. Its very people friendly as I really want to encourage people to sing. “ This is what GIA the Music Publishers have said about the recording ~
This collection is definitive Lawton: expressive texts, soaring melodies, and deep emotions all imbued with the power of God’s comforting embrace. Inspired by life and his experiences in the world around him Lawton captures these holy moments, gives them a song, and preserves them for all eternity. Beautifully scored and orchestrated by Chris de Silva song-after song inspires a swell of love for God and the gifts bestowed upon us day-by-day. .
