On Sunday June 28th, the Diocese of Waterford & Lismore recorded a historic day as Dr. Lazarus Gidolf was the first man in the diocese to be ordained to the Permanent diaconate.
The ordination took place in Lazarus’ home parish of St. Oliver’s, Clonmel. A large crowd attended the Ordination, and many of Lazarus’ Indian family and friends were present.
The Ordination was officiated by Bishop Alponsus Cullinan DD. Also in attendance was Very Rev Pat Fitzgerald PP, St. Paul’s, Waterford who is the diocesan director for the permanent diaconate. The parish priest of St. Oliver’s, Very Rev Michael Hegarty was MC for the occasion.
