On the weekend 18th/19th March, Josienne who featured on the 2004 Trocaire box visited the Diocese of Waterford and Lismore. Her image was portrayed on the front of the Trócaire box depicting the story of the Rwandan genocide in which she lost her father. The purpose of her visit was to bring the Trócaire box to life…..and to show people that 13 years on, Trócaire is still working along with Josiane and her community and helping them to achieve their potential. Josiane has recently qualified as an accountant.
Josienne was present at Mass in the Cathedral at 6.15pm on Saturday 18th March. This was followed by a gathering in the Granville Hotel for light refreshments. Eamonn Meehan, director of Trocaire, shared with us what our almsgiving helps with during the Lenten campaign. Bishop Cullinan also shared with us his experiences of his recent trip to Zimbabwe. Josienne gave a presentation on her life in Rwanda, and how Trocaire has helped her live her dream and improve her family life.
It was a lovely occasion and a good crowd were present to hear more about the work of Trocaire and what it achieves in our disadvantaged countries.
