It was with deep regret that I learned of the death of Bishop Seamus Freeman, former Bishop of Ossory, on Saturday 20th August. Though he retired shortly after my consecration as Bishop, I knew him to be a learned and gentle man with a ready smile and warm personality. He battled with ill health for many years with quiet perseverance. I offer my condolences to all his family, to his colleagues in the Pallotine Order, to the priests and people of our neighbouring Diocese of Ossory.
May he rest in peace.
Bishop Alphonsus Cullinan
