The Diocese of Waterford and Lismore will mark the life and death of Pope Francis this Easter Thursday, April 24th, as we come together to pray for the soul of or our beloved Holy Father, Pope Francis.
At 12 PM, churches throughout the Diocese will ring their bells 88 times as a tribute to the Supreme Pontiff’s 88 years of his life, marking his contributions to the Church and the world.
In the evening, we invite all members of our community to join us at 6:30 PM in the Cathedral for Vespers (evening prayers). Following this sacred time of reflection, there will be a Requiem Mass celebrated by Bishop Alphonsus Cullinan at 7 PM.
All Catholics are encouraged to pray one Our Father, one Hail Mary, and one Glory Be for the soul of the deceased Pontiff.
We encourage everyone in our Diocese to try to participate in this liturgy as we pray for Pope Francis, and continue to uphold his teachings within our hearts and communities.
