Pilgrims of Hope: Prayer Spaces Experience and Training Session

On Wed 12th March there will be a unique prayer spaces experience throughout the day at St John’s Pastoral Centre from 12 noon to 6pm. Prayer spaces are a creative way for young people and children especially (although they can work well across all age categories) to engage with questions of faith, meaning and purpose along with personal experiences of prayer. They can be run at a very low cost with limited resources and in a variety of ways. We will have a number of prayer spaces set up during the day in the centre for people to pop in and avail of a time of prayer and reflection themselves, and are running a training session with the coordinator of Prayer Spaces in Schools Ireland, Emma Thompson that evening. We would love for parishes, teachers, clergy and pastoral workers to engage with the material and see what the possibilities are for their own areas in running prayer spaces as a separate event or in conjunction with other events, particularly throughout Lent or the Jubilee Year, as the prayer spaces we are choosing to use for this event will have a significant focus on the theme of hope. Prayer Spaces in Schools are also a great resource for schools with significant support and resources available to any group considering using them, both from our diocesan team here as well as the national network.
