It was with a lot of sadness that I learned of the death of Bishop Martin Drennan who died last Saturday.
Bishop Martin, or Fr. Martin as we knew him then, taught me Sacred Scripture in St. Patrick’s College Maynooth. He was a scholar and a gentleman and treated his students with kindness and respect.
I offer his brother Fr. Michael, all the Drennan family and the people of the Diocese of Galway my deepest sympathy and the promise of my prayers. May the Lord to whom he devoted his life here on earth be his Redeemer now and bring him to those new pastures of which Bishop Martin spoke so eloquently in his teaching and preaching.
